I have to switch pharmacies for insurance reasons (my current pharmacy won’t fill a 90 day rx…). I have seen a lot of ads lately advertising gift cards for prescription transfers. Does anybody know of any current bonuses for prescription transfers? I am in the Chicago area so anything with Walgreens, CVS, Osco, etc. would be great! Thanks : )
It is not just my insurance – it is the pharmacy. I have contacted my insurance company and it is a negotiated deal they have with that particular pharmacy chain where they do not fill for more than 30 days. My doctor wrote the rx for 90 days so I am able to go to other pharmacies that do not have that restriction. That is right from my insurance. So I would need to switch pharmacies in order to get the rx my doctor wrote.

Okay, first of all, it’s your insurance that won’t allow a 90 day supply. Most don’t in a retail pharmacy setting. So don’t switch pharmacies just because of your insurance. I work at a pharmacy, and I cannot believe the number of people who won’t pay their $20 co-pays, and then say "I’ll take it to another pharmacy." I always tell them go ahead. But the co-pay is going to be the same wherever you go. When we bill your insurance, they send us back a price. We have absolutely no control over the price. Customers need to understand that.
Rite Aid is offering a $25.00 gift card for a transfer prescription, but we check to make sure you aren’t bouncing back and forth just to get the gift card. You are only allowed two cards in a six month period. Check the weekly ad.
